Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time.  I am happy to provide the necessary paperwork for you to submit claims directly to your insurance, which in most cases is quite simple.

Are the services confidential?

For the most part, yes.  Confidentiality is assured via state and federal law, as well as the ethics of the profession.  As a mandated reporter, there are times when I must break confidentiality for the safety and welfare of yourself or others.  This will be reviewed in our first session.

What is your approach to counseling?

My basic approach is this:  you are the expert and author of your story.  It is up to you to define what you are going through and to then identify your goals.  We want to know: is this working?  My approach to counseling is built off of the evidence-based principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered Therapy.  We will discuss this as well to ensure we curate the best approach for you.

4

How long does counseling take?

This depends on what you are going through and what your goals are.  Sometimes counseling is very brief and "solution-focused" where someone needs some help with problem solving or getting unstuck.  Sometimes counseling can last years when a client builds a strong relationship with their counselor and simply pops in from time to time when needed.  In the end, it's my belief that it is largely up to you, depending on what you'd like to accomplish.

5

What is a session like?

In our first session, we will briefly review some paperwork and foundational part of working together.  Counseling only works when there is a solid relationship from which to work.  Subsequent sessions will be guided by you.  Sometimes we will pick up where we left off; sometimes there will be "homework" we agreed on from the previous session.  What I can guarantee is time and space free from judgment, warm, welcoming, accepting, and full of curiosity.

6

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, checks, and credit cards (including FSA and HSA).

7

How does telehealth work?

Telehealth is meant to mimic in-person sessions as much as possible.  We will use a HIPAA-compliant platform, and I simply ask that you take the call from a quiet and private space that allows for us both to be fully attentive.
